When am I entitled to public holiday allowance?

On recognized public holidays (unless they fall on Saturdays and/or Sundays) you are entitled to a public holiday allowance when:

You have worked at least seven times on the relevant day of the week in a period of thirteen consecutive weeks immediately preceding the relevant public holiday;
or
You have not yet worked thirteen consecutive weeks and have been employed on the relevant day of the week in more than half of the number of weeks worked.

You are entitled to continued payment of your actual wages on public holidays, insofar as they do not fall on a Saturday and/or Sunday. The actual wage is due for the average of all hours for which wages were paid on that day in the period of thirteen weeks (or less if option 2). Suppose you worked 8 weeks out of 13 weeks on the relevant day, then the average number of hours on the relevant day of those 8 weeks is taken into account. Suppose you have worked on the relevant day for 7 of the 12 weeks, then the average number of hours on the relevant day of those 7 weeks is taken into account.

If you register your hours worked in the online portal yourself, you do not have to enter the hours of the holiday. You only enter the hours worked in the online portal.

Public holidays include:

New Year's Day.
Easter Monday
Ascension Day
White Monday
Both Christmas Days
Dutch "Koningsdag"
Liberation Day in anniversary years.
